Hi All,
This is is my first time writing on my blog for BAPP.
I am excited to start my journey with middlesex University and have missed academia for many years, as I graduated back in 2018.
This is just a little post about what I have been up to this far and I look forward to keeping a log of my experiences and Journey throughout the course.
When people ask me what my practise is, I find it hard to answer as I have a background in many. From a young age I have been dancing and Singing in shows, being lucky enough to perform at the London Palladium and Royal Albert Hall.
As I grew up, I knew I wanted to persue a career in the arts so I could carry on enjoying performance.
At the age of 16 I decided to audition for musical theatre colleges not thinking I would get excepted at this age. However, I was lucky enough to get offers from two Colleges. I started at Performers College in 2015 and studied for three years gaining my Diploma in Musical Theatre.
Since leaving College, I have been very privileged to have worked both in the uk and Abroad, covering many different practises, including modelling and dancing for pineapple studios, modelling for various bridal wear companies, appearing in theatre productions and music videos, being a backing dancer and singing in a girl band tribute.
I am currently touring the uk in "The Mad Hatters Circus" as Alice, dancing, acting, performing lyra Lollipop and magic illusions. I am enjoying this role so much as I get to showcase more than one practise that I am passionate about.
Over the last two years, I have carried on developing my skills and learnt new disaplines such as aerial silks, aerial hoop, lyra lollipop, fire performance, stilt walking and doubles acrobatics.
As well as performing, I am very fascinated by sports nutrition, especially for dancers as it differs so much to people working a 9-5. Over my career I have learnt just how important diet is for keeping up with the demaning toll on the body.
I am really excited to further my research and understanding on the arts in this course. I am also intrigued to see what avenue of investigation I will choose as I am interested in many areas of the industry.
I look forward to starting this course and can't wait to see how it furthers my career.
Nice, Melody! You seem to have already identified a potential 'area of learning' there, regarding nutrition. (would love to get some tips, as the pandemic has really ruined my already decaying figure)
ReplyDeleteNice to connect with you Melody! I went to Performers on the foundation course between 2009-2010 a long while back. I would have loved to have tried aerial. What is your favourite of the new disciplines you've tried?
ReplyDeleteamazing !! nice to connect. I am in love with lollipop Lyra so would definitely be that
