Its taken me a while, but I’ve finally come round to the idea of one research project. The title I have in mind is something like:
Why do performers diversify and can they transfer knowledge from previous skills to enhance their learning of new skills
I want to look at how learning one skill in dance may help or hinder learning a new one in circus and vis versa.
For example, I started dancing before I started circus. When I first started circus I already knew how to have stage presence, core strength and flexibility, which helped me when I started learning aerial hoop.I am really passionate about learning new skills and have done this all the way through my career.I believe this will give me a deeper understanding about what I do and ultimately help further my career.
I would love to hear peoples opinions on this subject if anyone has any ideas or thoughts.
Sounds like a great idea! I bet the literature around this would be interesting. Is there any things you think don't help with circus skills? Or contradict? I'd be interested to see your findings! :)
ReplyDeletehey, so far im finding dance is more of a help to circus than the other way round. however an aerialist for example could have strength, fitness, flexibility and performance skills which would all transfer to dance really well
